Never have I seen a horse so bonded with one person the way this horse was bonded with Kenn.  "Scy" was beauty and grace all rolled up in one package with speed and ability to burn.  That was not always so.  It took that bond with his one special person, and a lot of time, understanding and patience to bring it out.

In the beginning "Scy" was a rogue, probably destined for the killer's pen.  Kenn took one look at him, spent 1 secound out of the 8 in the saddle, looked at him again from down on the ground, and bought him then and there.   It was years of work, but eventually "Scy" began to understand what was expected of him.  However, "Scy" had his own set of rules too.  He deigned to let anyone else ride him, and that person must be under close supervision.  Spurs were forbidden on anyone other than Kenn.

Halter bred, with halter horse looks in a racehorse's body,  his beauty enabled him to win multiple grand champions, and enough points for ApHC Champion Horse honors.  Barrels and Poles came hard to "Scy", but come they did.  In due time, he was nigh unbeatable.  He was an NBHA money earner, and in 2005 won nearly every Camas Prairie Stump race he entered.  He ended the year second in the Nation over all.  He also ran the fastest qualifying time at  the World Championship Show that year.  Tough luck and a slip early on in the final eliminations cost him a top ten placing.   At the same world show he was 9th in Open Rope Race- it was only his fifth time in a rope race class ever.   Things were looking bright.  The gorgeous gelding was still improving- he'd come nowhere close to hitting his peak yet.  2006 was set to be his year.

In March 2006 that changed with the swiftness of a lightning strike.  "Scy" was a little fresh that day, so he was let into the indoor arena to play.  Kenn joined him for a game of "tag".  "Scy" cantered to the opposite end of the arena, rolled back and suddenly fell.  The moments after he staggered to his feet were, and still are, heart-wrenching.  Somehow he stumbled his way back to the one person he loved more than any on earth.  There he dropped and breathed his last- victim of a massive aneurysm

Your beauty was breathtaking, your ability awe-inspiring.  Your love was a special gift we will always cherish.  May you light up heaven the way you lit up our lives.
